Contest: Audio-Technica, Genelec and Focusrite – Submit your mix!

An exciting competition for semi-professional and amateur sound engineers is now open for submissions. Audio-Technica, Genelec and Focusrite have teamed up for the “Sound, looking for sound engineer”  contest, offering amazing prizes for home-studio owners who want to try their hand at mixing a song from scratch. The tracks provided by the organizers have all been recorded with different types of Audio-Technica microphones.


All you have to do to subscribe is download the tracks and take your time with the mix (submissions are open until December 14th). If you’re currently living in Romania, then you’re a candidate for this contest.

The jury

Mihai Pop (sound engineer with over 15 years of professional experience), Adrian Despot (singer-songwriter and the frontman of Vița de Vie, one of Romania’s most successful rock bands), Bryan Borcherds (composer and sound engineer; Global Channel Marketing Manager for Focusrite), Dré Klaassen (European Regulatory Specialist On Wireless Products at Audio Technica Europe and a professional drummer) and James Gallacher (Area Sales Manager at Genelec).

The prizes

  • 1st place: a pair of Genelec M040 studio monitors + a Focusrite Clarett 8 Pre audio interface + an Audio-Technica AT4047 studio microphone
  • 2nd place: a pair of Genelec M030 studio monitors + a Focusrite ISA One preamp + an Audio-Technica AT4040 studio microphone
  • 3rd place: an Audio-Technica AT2035 studio microphone + a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M70x professional monitoring headphones
